Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the mission of the SHREC
Project?
A: We believe that we are stewards of the environment and that to
that end we should learn about the use of alternative energy which
will lead to less reliance on fossil fuels.
Our building will be a demonstration project for solar and geo-thermal energy use and will be powered and sustained completely off the energy grid. We will offer classes in installation and uses of these alternative energy sources.
Q: How will SHREC benefit the local
Community?
A: It is clearly our objective to provide information that will
change the way people live and interact with their environment. We
intend to train them in the essentials of lifestyle actions that
will impact their health. We intend to help them see ways to
interact with the environment to impact on the health of the planet.
The program objective is to assist any individual in the community who has demonstrated a desire to change their lifestyle to attain a better standard of health to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to make those changes.
Q: What is the Future
Vision for SHREC?
A:When our rebuilding work is completed we will have a state of the
art meeting facility with outstanding audiovisual capacity and a
warm intimate setting conducive to classes and seminars on a variety
of subjects.
Our emphasis will be on health and life style changes that can lead to a better understanding of our purpose and a longer more productive life. We will offer classes in stress reduction, smoking habit intervention, early cancer detection, and many other related topics.
Because our building will be completely “off the grid” for energy purposes we will be able to offer to the community a working model of energy conservation and uses of alternatives. We will bring in experts in the field and offer these seminars to the members of the Washoe Valley community who have an interest in this technology.
Through your community support all of the classes offered at the Stone House Center will be free of charge to the attendee. We will seek support from the community to cover the costs of these programs and will advertise them to the community at large.
